       Disaster Preparedness Week

Only one in five Australians is prepared for a disaster.

Disasters can strike anyone, anytime and being prepared is the best way to ensure the safety and wellbeing of you and your family.

Independent research commissioned by Red Cross shows that only one in five Australians is prepared for a disaster. We are about to enter the peak season for disasters such as floods, fires and cyclones, so now is a great time to get ready.

Preparing for a disaster is easy. Knowing what to do, where to go, who to talk to, and what is important to you is the best way to be prepared.

Red Cross offers a range of REDiPlan resources that help people to be better prepared to reduce the impacts of an emergency if one is to occur. Choose the best REDiPlan that's best for you and get started.

Internationally, Red Cross is also working to reduce the risk of disasters by strengthening the skills of communities so that they are in a better position to respond to any disaster. Red Cross promotes activities and actions that reduce the adverse effects of hazards for communities as well as protecting key development projects such as health facilities from the impact of disasters.

What else can I do?
